The Memorial offers a thematically focused educational program for 8th and 9th grade primary school students and students of secondary, higher and university schools in formal and informal education.
The programme cannot be delivered without prior booking – available dates from October 2024! Thank you for your understanding.

We also conduct guided tours.
A core educational programme that will interactively guide participants through the history of the Roma and Sinti in the 20th century, focusing on the history of the camp at Lety u Písku. Participants will reconstruct one of four family stories from archival materials, introducing them to the themes of the plurality of lifestyles of Roma and Sinti before the war, conditions in the camp, the fate of Roma and Sinti during the war, memories of the camp after the war, and efforts to build a memorial. The lecturer uses research approaches, including archival materials (e.g., cards from prison records, documents on the escape of Josef Serinek, family photographs from the archives of Jan Hauer and Čeněk Růžička, camp correspondence of the Šmíd family, memoirs of Božena Pfleger, etc.). The educational programme includes a tour of the indoor and outdoor exhibition.
The program lasts 3 hours with a break, it is necessary to be prepared for the outdoor part of the program (dress for the weather).

The Memorial commemorating the victims of the Holocaust of the Roma and Sinti is located on the authentic site where the concentration camp operated between 1942 and 1943. The new Memorial was built in 2023/24.
Despite the fact that the indoor and outdoor permanent exhibitions are built on the individual experience of each visitor, we offer educational guided tours for educational institutions.
Recommended age: elementary school, high school, university, non-profit organizations

Price: 40 CZK per student, free pedagogical accompaniment
Capacity: max. 30 participants
Lectures or discussions with experts on the topic of the Holocaust of the Roma and Sinti or the history of the Roma in general can be held at the Memorial. Our lecturers will provide you with more information (e.g. dates), and it is possible to create a lecture tailored to your needs.
