As a memento of ignorance and neglect, two torsos of one of the halls of the large-capacity pig farm have been preserved in the Memorial. The piggery was built in 1972-1974 in the immediate vicinity of the site of the former camp and consisted of ten halls. The other three halls, extending into the plan of the south-eastern corner of the former camp, were added in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The intention to remove the pig farm was mentioned at a commemoration in 1997, and the site in Lety u Písku was subsequently bought out. For twenty years, the struggle of the survivors, memorials and activists for the removal of the pig farm and the dignified commemoration of the prisoners lasted, for which Mr Čeněk Růžička also contributed to a great extent. On 1 January 2018, the Museum of Romani Culture became the official administrator of the former pig farm and the Lety u Písku Cultural Monument. The Museum then takes steps to demolish the pig farm and build a new Memorial in its place. The demolition of the pig farm began in July 2022 and was completed in December of the same year.
